Basement Tile Floors
36"x8" Textured Wood Planking Porcelain Tile in a random offset pattern for a natural look. Textured wood planking tile is not smooth on top. It gives a real wood look and feel but may not clean as easily as smooth wood planking tile. Large wood planking tile like these three footers can be more costly in both tile product and installation, requiring more mortar and time to install to perfection.
This customer is transforming their basement into a full live in suite with bathroom, bedroom, family room, mud room, closets, and kitchen.
Not all wood planking tile is able to be installed in a random offset pattern. Some requires 1/3 off set and results in a visible pattern. We can tell you what is possible with your tile and make recommendations prior to purchase so that you are getting what you want in your product selection.
We used laser levels to grid the multiple rooms, resulting in nearly 700 square feet of tile the wraps around 3 large rooms, 2 hallways, and a closet coming together on point. This leaves full width tile throughout the basement. Not every installer practices this method; don't let your tile get cut short.
We recommended self-leveler for this basement but it was cost prohibitive. With expert skill we installed these tiles over a half inch bed of mortar and back buttered each piece, allowing us to compensate for a slightly uneven floor.
